What is Auction?

qu'est-ce qu'une enchère

The auction is bi-annual fundraiser that gives families a chance to bid and buy items where proceeds go directly to RCE.

You're probably asking why our school even needs to raise funds.  You might even be saying, "I pay a lot in school taxes! Why do I need to help raise money?!"  The answer is simple.  It's called recapture.  Through recapture, the state takes away a portion of the
local property tax revenue collected by school districts with relatively high property values per student. Recapture, which we have referred to as "Robin Hood" in prior years, is paid from the General Fund, reducing
the dollars available for district operations. This year, we estimate SBISD will send $52 million to the state of Texas; that means approximately
15 cents of every tax dollar you
pay to SBISD is paid to the state as recapture .We encourage you to click here to read all about it.

The dollars raised from auction go directly back to the school and are used for teacher specialist salaries, traffic safety, field trips, technology updates, building enhancements, equipment updates and so much more.

The event includes cocktails, lite bites, a live and silent auction, and a night of embarrassing yourself on the dance floor (if you dare). So travel with us to a Midnight in Paris and help us raise some money for our amazing school!
